Sisterly Love

Who am I going to miss most of all when I am in Philadelphia? Why my little sister, partner-in-crime, and blogger extraordinaire Natalie, of course! This girl means the world to me. We always have a good time together, whether we're exploring the lands of Southeast Asia or making our way around the bustling NYC. We've done it all together and let's just say it's never boring. Nat's post on her blog about my move to Philly to work for Free People was so heartwarming. I couldn't ask for a better, more supportive sister. Thank goodness the bonds of sisterly love can never be broken no matter how far apart we are!

These little photo booth shots were taken last weekend at our local mall, where we were shooting one of the videos for Volcom's Fall 2011 denim video series which I styled. The theme for this one was sister shopping day! It was so much fun frolicking around the mall like the mall rats we are at heart as innocent bystanders looked on in confusion. Can't wait for you guys to see it when it comes out!

I have an interview with a reporter from the Daily Bruin, which is the UCLA newspaper (always a weekly read back when I was an undergrad there not too long ago). So going to head back to Bruin-landia today (a.k.a. Westwood). Kind of pumped!

Chinatown Boba

When I leave for Philadelphia, the one thing that I am going to really miss about my sweet Los Angeles (you know, other than my family, friends, and the weather) is my favorite little boba shop in Chinatown. There's nothing better than a cool milk tea and some squishy little bobas to cure any little spell. Anyone know of any good boba places in Philly that I can fulfill my cravings at? I'm trying to make the most of my last days in SoCal, spending as much time as I can with my family and friends. Not to mention, packing up my whole life. Despite the stress of a fast-paced move, my sights are sparkly and wide. Like some wear their hearts on their sleeves, I wear my sparkle on my sweater. Dress how you feel.

Thank you for all the warm and supportive words you all sent my way yesterday regarding my new job and my big move to Philadelphia. They really mean the whole wide world to me! You all are the BEST!

BIG NEWS: I'm Moving to Philadelphia!!!

And finally I am ready to let you all know my big news!!!! I will be permanently moving to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in a little less than two weeks for my new job at Free People's home office! It really is a dream come true! This is going to be a major life change . . . being away from my family and loved ones, all the way on the other side of the country. It still hasn't hit me yet that this is all happening . . . and oh so fast! I don't start until May 9, but my sister and I already had a little tear fest going the other day in the car, stuck in traffic to be exact. I am going to miss my little baby sister the most of all. I love her so much. But no matter how many miles away we are from each other, we'll always be there for each other! She is the peanut butter to my jelly!


On the other side of the emotional spectrum, I am so so excited to be joining one of the most talented teams in fashion (not to mention one of my most favorite brands!). Ever since I picked up my first Free People catalog way back in 2006, I always dreamed of working for the brand . . . and now look at me! Crazy how things turn out, huh? I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. But I must say, I owe a lot of what I have accomplished so far to this blog. Without the dedication that I have given Color Me Nana so far, I wouldn't be where I am now or be having the amazing opportunities coming my way almost unexpectedly. You've all seen me explore different aspects of the fashion industry, from a writer for The Fashion Spot to the social media coordinator of Volcom Girls, and I feel like I've finally found my groove. So in turn, I must thank you all for supporting me and reading me little old bloggy blogster of a blog. I couldn't be able to do what I love without you all! And that really says a lot :)


I am still going to make sure to keep this blog up and running when I'm in Philly. I'd never leave you guys in the dark! I love you all too much! My head is in the sky right now, and I hope you all stick around to enjoy the ride with me as I jump into this new chapter of my life. So the fortune in my fortune cookie did happen to really ring true: "Your dream will come true when you least expect it"


As long as you follow your heart and never let go of your dreams, you'll find your rhythm eventually.

Now, are there any bloggers or readers in Philadelphia who can give me some tips about places in the city to live / things to do / places to see? Anyone want to be my official tour guide? haha. I've only spent one whole day last summer exploring Philadelphia, and though that's not enough to really get too know a place, I know that I will love calling this place my new home. And I'm only 2 hours away from NYC! GAH!

Color Me Nana

I am so inspired by the ways that these beautiful women shot by Stockholm Streetstyle wear color. Bright, loud, clear, and daring. This is exactly what I want to be this spring. New season, new changes, new experiences. A lot of you know from Twitter that I have some very, very exciting news to share with you all. Let's just say life is going to be one big adventure from now on right here on Color Me Nana. I'll fill you all in on Monday, so stay tuned . . . and always, and I mean always, stay colorful :) Life is way too short to be bland.

This past week has been non-stop work for me, mixed in with a bunch of happy surprises. Before I move on to the next thing, I just want to relax and enjoy the present moment for a little while. I will be heading to Las Vegas this Easter Sunday to take a load off for a few days with my family. This is something that I totally need right now. I haven't even packed yet! You can tell that these pictures are old because, well, my hair is lighter than it is now. I have no idea how these pictures got lost in the shuffle. These are a few the last shots of my pre-hair coloring days. They were actually taken just this last St. Patrick's Day! A fun-filled day out with the girls on Main Street in Santa Monica. This is what I wore. I didn't wear green, but at least I didn't get pinched. I'd rather wear rusty orange over Irish green any day.

Swedish Hasbeens for H&M Photo Shoot / GIVEAWAY!!

Finally, here is the result of the photo shoot that I took part in for H&M's collaboration with Swedish Hasbeens. I styled these two looks both with my black Hasbeens. What do you think? H&M really adored the pics of Natalie and I together. Natalie is wearing her own clothes with her Swedish Hasbeens for H&M. Lovely, no? All I know is that I am all about color this season!

Behind-the-Scenes: H&M + Swedish Hasbeens Photoshoot!

One last look at the H&M Showroom.

I know a lot of you have been curious about the H&M photo shoot that I took part in for H&M's collaboration with Swedish shoe brand Hasbeens, so here is a little behind-the-scenes sneak peek at what I was up to on the day of the shoot this past Wednesday! The morning started off with hair and makeup at the H&M Showroom in Los Angeles, where I was basically surrounded by some of the most gorgeous pieces for summer! There were so many bright pieces that caught my eye . . . perfect to showcase that colorful Los Angeles vibe that this shoot was aiming to capture. We shot my two looks on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and it was an absolute blast, even with all the funny bystanders and tourists ogling us all around. Derrick the photographer really made me feel so comfortable in front of the camera. I really cannot wait to see the end result of the shoot!

Thank you to Joakim, Derrick, Carl, Patrick, and Johanna (who I've been corresponding with over phone about this project) from Whispr Group and everyone at H&M for putting this all together and making it happen! It really was an experience I will never forget! And thank you to my sister Natalie for being there for support, and taking these lovely pictures!
