My Love It Keeps Me Warm

C&C California velvet mini dress, Jarlo cape jacket, Free People beanie, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice snakeskin leather Gillie boots and Jett messenger bag, Vanessa Mooney boot strap, Free People beanie

As the days creep closer and closer to spring, my heart just lights up so bright. The memories from last spring and summer rush back into my head. My white beach cruiser can bust out again! A tan may finally grace my legs. I can read a book OUTSIDE for once! Endorphins be flowing. Every single day I think of these little things that make me happy and content and forward-feeling. Even when I am at work on my computer and feeling completely stuck in a rut, I'll just look at the sky light above my desk and think, man it looks freaking beautiful outside, even though really it's cold as heck. And that is reason enough to lighten up a bit. Or I'll put on my favorite tune and play it on repeat and not give a damn if anyone else can hear it blasting from my headphones. Whatever you can do each day to lift your spirits and feel revved up, just do it. There is no point kicking yourself in the butt or being bored or feeling unmotivated. Eat a piece of chocolate. Get up and take a stroll outside. Go learn how to play that instrument you've been dying to learn how to play for so long but never found the time to. FIND THE TIME! Push away those feelings that make you feel strapped down. Just smile maybe. There is so much sweetness in each of these little things. And so much more height we can add to our days. A height that can be as tall as this NYC rooftop. You may not literally be on top of the world, but you sure as heck can feel like it.

Velvety layers and this reliable coat will save me from the cold right now. Summer will just be the backdrop of my dreams while I sleep for the time being. And check out the latest update to our Modern Vice Jett boot . . . The Ghillie boot! This pair is a snakeskin embossed leather lace-up with a removable kilty. Kilty or no kilty? It's up to you! We really are having so much fun with our Modern Vice collaboration!! What do you think of the Gillie boot?

Okay, this is all I have for you right now. Keep cool babes and see ya'll tomorrow. Thank goodness it's almost Friday! xo

Spell and the Gypsy

Spell and the Gypsy Collective. One if those brands that with every single piece they create, I lust after with heart and soul. I think that deep down inside I want to be a Spell and the Gypsy girl. This lookbook of theirs mesmerizes me. Pure white and serenity and dry heat. All-American Southwestern touches with that Australian beachy-ness all rolled into one to create something undeniably perfect and quite magical. I hear the wind and I feel the sun just looking at these pictures. Can I collect just about every kimono, fringed piece and dramatically delicate maxi dress from this collection? Say I can, please.

I Knew You Were Trouble

Vintage coat, Joie sweater, vintage blouse, Hudson jeans, Natalie + Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Benni boots, Urban Outfitters bag

The only reason for the title of this post is because I am currently listening to Walk Off The Earth's cover of the Taylor Swift jam. Yup. That's it.

One of the things that I love most about living in Philadelphia is the high quantity of cool patterned walls to be found all over the city. Like this blue and white striped one that makes me feel like I am a character in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. While I was editing, I couldn't help but throw in some funny stickers for good measure. To keep the mood light. This day, Chesley and I went shopping at one of my favorite vintage shops in the city, Retrospect. I adore the little side streets off of South Street. They are so quaint with a little bit of quirky thrown in.

Californiacation

Quiksilver dress, vintage Levi's denim jacket, Natalie & Dylana x Modern Vice Officer boots, Urban Outfitters bag

Finally another photo diary from my last trip back to California! These were taken the first day, where I spent the day catching up with my parents and trolling around my favorite old haunts in Santa Monica, Venice and Malibu. That blue sky never gets old. It was over 80 degrees when I arrived, and I was forced to take my black tights off as soon as my plane landed. Not that I minded, of course. Santa Monica is usually a pretty busy place, but it's nothing compared to NYC. And Malibu, well it's a ghost town in comparison. But the feeling of quietness and unlimited openness was refreshing to say the least. All I could hear were the crash of the waves, the seagulls and the swift passing of cars along the highway that gives you the best view of what California has to offer. That sunset. Gosh I miss it. And the saltiness in my hair at the end of the day. Gonna miss that, too. It was nice spending the day with my parents, who I only get to see a few times a year now since I moved to the east coast nearly two years ago. Gosh, it'll be 2 years in May. I can't believe it. If only I could time travel between coasts anytime I wanted, then life would be so much easier.

New In

New little beauty goodies keep things feeling fresh. You know, a little pick me up for a drabby work week. My face has never felt brighter, clearer and smoother since I've been using Dr. Jart's V7 Vita Laser 2.1 Skin Perfecting Revitaliser. Wow, that's a long name, but for good reason. In the amount of time that it takes you to repeat the name 5 times over is how fast you will start to see a difference in your skin. I use it morning and night, and hardly do I even need concealer anymore. My new O.P.I. nail colors Fly (blue) and Hot & Spicy (orange) keep my tips looking hot this winter. And they remind me that spring is just around the corner. Loreal's 24 Hr Infallible Eye Shadow in Glistening Garnet is a nice change from my everyday gold shimmer and brown tones. It's a bit daring, but can also be subtle with just a light wash of it on your lids. I like the effect that the red shimmer has on a face with only a natural lip and pink cheeks. And finally, to infuse my days with pretty scents and a girlish feeling, I reach for Kate Spade's new roll-on fragrance Live Colorfully. It smells like fresh flowers with a hint of something exotic!

And lip color. Now that is always a major priority in my book. Recently I have been experimenting with more far out colors, like super matte red, almost black purple and super in your face fuschia. Why not? YOLO! You only live once!  Boys may not really dig a brightly colored lip, but our self confidence surely does! A standout lip livens up the face and instantly makes you beam from within. Or at least I like to think so. My sister got me this this Nars Lipstick in Heat Wave for Christmas, and I have been using it instead of my normal cherry red. It's a fire hot mix of red and orange that is so much more punchy and fun than the good old classic route. I like to mix it up more. Pout up girls.

This new cuff from Karen London that I like to pretend is armor for my wrist. I mean it literally is, with its cage-like design and nubby little extremities. It makes working at a computer that much more fun since now I have something awesome to look at every now and then while I type.

Well, that's it for now! Happy Friday guys! Pumped for a fun weekend with friends!

Foxy Lady

Willow & Clay jacket, Yesstyle sweater, Seven For All Mankind jeans, Free People sunglasses, Urban Outfitters bag, H&M scarf, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Jett boots

Jimi Hendrix. Sing to me always. That man never fails to inspire me and get me jamming. So much swag. So much souuuuuul. Now you know what I'm bobbing my head to everyday. Like Jimi Hendrix, I like to think of myself as a crazy print mixer. Sometimes I feel weird or a little off balance when I'm too basic. Rarely will you ever find me in just a white tee and a skinny pair of jeans and just leave it at that. The idea kind of freaks me out. Well, not really, but you know what I mean. Basic can easily become boring and well, boring just sucks! Chevron shapes and seaside stripes and heathered gray knitwear? YES. I'm quite surprised that I was also able to fit my grandpa cardigan over my striped sweater and not look like the abominable snowman. I like it when things work out fine and dandy like this Yup.

What do I have on repeat right now? The band Local Natives. If you are looking for some chill yet beautifully upbeat tunes, then check them out!
