Layered Lengths

We Are Handsome maxi top, Free People tank top, Gypsy Warrior jeans, vintage boots and belt, Brixton hat, Vanessa Mooney necklaces

This past weekend has been full of all sorts of craziness. I'm on a NYC apartment hunt, and I feel quite frazzled through the roof. Why do people NOT respond to my Craigslist emails??? And why are places to expensiiiiiveeee???? This weekend turned out to a fail when it came to finding the perfect starting out place for my big NYC move, losing out on a rad room to someone who literally viewed it hours before me. Grrrr. It looks like another week of the hunt is going to ensue, and my Fourth of July weekend beach plans might be going down the drain. But you know what? It's okay. I know it's all going to work out. And at the end of it all, I'll finally be in NYC. Can't wait to settle in to my new job and whatever new place I end up in. But right in this second, let's just forget the madness of life in general and just focus on the clothes. How spectacular is this We Are Handsome floral number? A sweet layering piece for a basic all over black and grey look. Layering with different lengths is now my new favorite hobby.

With A Little Help From My Friends

I feel like I haven't posted in forever. And it's probably because life has been more than the normal sort of hectic it usually is. Big changes are on the way and everything is happening so quickly! In two weeks I will be officially moving to New York City for a brand new job. Leaving Philadelphia after growing to love this city for all its grit and charm for the past 2 and something years is going to be extremely bittersweet. I have fallen in love with Philly during my time here, and most of this love is because of the wonderful people I have made a part of my life. So many shared sets of laughs, explorations around the brownstone lined streets that never seemed to end, the best brunches I have ever, the cutest dogs that will ever get to know, and the strongest feeling of community that I have ever felt in a while. Coming from California, where everything is so spread out and scattered, moving to Philadelphia and being able to walk nearly anywhere and everywhere if I wanted to was super refreshing. And working for Free People has definitely given me an eye opening experience into the fashion world and my place in it. I know I won't ever find a working environment like the Free People home office ever again, but sometimes change is good. With this move to NYC I see fresh possibilities, grand adventures and a whole new discovery of myself and my dreams. Since I was just 15, I've always wanted to move to this city based on what I read and seen in the movies. And now I finally am. My impression of the Big Apple since moving to the east coast never dwindled to anything less than the glow of the brightest star, and even though I've been back and forth so many times between Philly and NYC, I know I still have so much more to explore. It's funny how things work out. And always when you least expect them. I know that I am going to miss the best friends that I have made here in Philly oh so much. They make me laugh non stop and never fail to make me feel like my best self. Going to miss those chill Philly weekends with my favorite girls, but that doesn't mean they have to end. I know Philly visits will always be in store. And here are the pictures to let you know why. Taken by moi.

Polly Want a Cracker?

AGAIN kimono, Modern Vice Presley boots, Karen London necklace

A throwback to early spring. When I lived in my old as heck, bleached out Levi's. Which I would still be living in if it didn't have a huge tear right below the right butt cheek. Gotta take care of that quick. Never got around to using these pictures for some reason. But I really dig the vibe of them. It was sprinkling on me. I wore this shirt to sleep the night before. And my hair was unwashed. A hot tomboy mess with a touch of lace to give the allusion that I am somewhat of a put together sort of person. Sometimes you just have those kind of days. You just got to roll with them with your chin up and hope for the best. Had a little fun with the editing. A little magical flair never hurt one bit. But to get to the bottom of the real story here, I am basically posting this because the shirt worn in this post is currently missing in action. A sad fact in deed. It was one of those pieces that you throw on in a mad rush because you know it will work and look cool with anything. Even bunny printed pajama pants. Yerp. Hopefully I dig this baby back up soon. Maybe it's lying in the bottom of my dirty clothes pile. Or I don't even want to know where. All I know is that I love band tees and I love disintegrating Levi's and light flares and that's that.

Earth, Wind and Fire

A pretty shoot I did with my lovely friend Mckenzie a few weeks back. On Cinco De Mayo to be exact! Been wanting to do a shoot with this photogenic girl for ages and we finally got around to doing it! I love the way the shapes and movements really pop in the hazy black and white color scheme. This kimono by one of my favorite brands, Spell and the Gypsy Collective, is like pure magic. The way is falls, the way it flows when one dances, the spectacular tie dye print that looks like a cotton candy interpretation of the sky. I had the idea of earth, wind and fire for this shoot, and worked it so that the elements of her outfit mimicked elements of nature. The beautiful light we had during this midday shoot (earth), the seamless drift of tangled crochet and fringe (wind) and the striking and regal feathered headpiece that I made just that morning (fire). It's crazy what one can do when you get creative at the last second. Thank you Mckenzie for being my model this day. You are a doll. xo

Daydream Believer

Vintage Dress, Gypsy Junkies kimono, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Jett Bag and Officer Boots, Vanessa Mooney choker, Karen London necklace

This past week has been a complete whirlwind. Sometimes life really takes turns when you least expect it, and important, almost life-changing, decisions need to be made. And dreams need to be put into perspective. Big and beautiful things have always been on my horizon, but lately they all have been a little closer than usual, and I've been working hard to shift things into a faster gear. It's a little scary and a whole lots of stressful, but I truly believe that things happen for a reason and that sometimes you just have to throw yourself into the flow a new current when the opportunities arise. This summer is looking like it's going to be a big one. And with that, I wear all white and creme. And a dash of pink for good measure. Was feeling sick on Friday, but finally recovered by night before my friend Mckenzie came to visit me in town. And an epic weekend went on to flourish.

Follow Color Me Nana on Bloglovin'

Hey ya'll! So it looks like there will be some changes up ahead. Google Reader shuts down on July 1, so if you are still following me on there, it's time to switch over to Bloglovin'

I've been using Bloglovin' for over a year now to follow all my favorite blogs, and I think it is absolutely fantastical! And oh so pretty with its clean and fresh layout. The Great Outdoors

Forever 21 Tank, Vintage shorts and cargo jacket, Vanessa Mooney necklace, Karen London cuff

The east coast has been going through a gloomy and wet spell these past few weeks. Where is the sunny summer I know and love? It's still humid as heck, but then chilly when it starts to rain. The ups and downs of the weather forecast are leaving me feeling a little confused and a whole lot of annoyed, so I have been keeping it basic most days, with just a tank, shorts and an extra layer to cover up with when it does actually cool down. I always have a hard time dressing simply without feeling to blah and uninteresting. Thank goodness for this kitschy and ethnically elemental tank from Forever 21. I can always get down with a good back strap detailing.

The Breakfast Club

Been making more of a point to eat breakfast (and a healthy one at that!) lately. I think it's summer that's putting me in this chipper health kick mode. Or the fact that everyone and their mommas are on the 30 Whole or Whole 30 diet or whatever it's called. You know, the one where you eat NO CARBS, NO DAIRY, and other crazy stuff. I love my carbohydrates in all shapes and forms. But I haven't eaten a bagel in two weeks. That's a start! I know for a fact that carbs will not be leaving my life at all for the rest of my human existence, but I've definitely been cutting down on them slightly and reaching for the more wholesome sort of of stuff. Raw oats, shredded wheat, brown rice, quinoa, bulgar, whole wheat toast. Yes I did have pesto pasta last night. Sorry, I cheated. But never will I beat myself over that. Indulgence is good, as long as it is with control. Thank goodness for the creation of chocolate almond milk, for it's delicious magical-ness when mixed with cereal has made me fall head over heels in love with it! More fruits, more leafy greens, good grains! That a girl. I ain't a girl who diets or restricts herself, and I ain't giving up them carbs, but making small changes and here and there is always a good thing :) And enjoy the pictures of my breakfast from last weekend!

Sunday Brunchday

Free People top and skirt, Brixton hat, Stela 9 bag (get similar here), Vanessa Mooney bracelet and choker, Karen London necklace, Nine West x Pamela Love boots

The weekends definitely fly by way too fast! At work currently and my coffee still doesn't seem to be kicking in. Grrrr. Thank goodness I forced myself to get productive this past weekend and edit some photos that I have been putting off for far too many weeks. Be sure to see my portfolio updated in a few days! Also worked in a lot of poolside chilling, a hardcore gym session, a night of dancing and an overwhelming amount of Netflix watching. Here is a look from a few weeks back, where I actually look presentable. A Sunday brunch look in Nolita, my favorite weekend spot in NYC. As you may have come to learn, my style is all sorts of different kinds of boho. Grungy boho (my go-to boho, if you ask me). Punk boho. Tomboy boho. Girly boho. Etc. Etc. This time I ended up going for a sweeter and more pulled together version of my usual weekend maxi skirt look. Sometimes its nice to feel pretty when you are gorging on Cuban food at Cafe Habana at 2 pm. Yup. Just gotta say, I am shocked at how white this maxi skirt still is. It's been through my first Coachella, multiple flea market trips, muddy spring evenings and a whole bunch of subway rides. This skirt has got game.
