Little Bird

Spell & the Gypsy Collective kimono, Free People tank, Vintage shorts, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Chloe boots, Jeffrey Campbell backpack, Vanessa Mooney necklace

Feeling like a free bird at the moment this fine Saturday during Labor Day weekend. Just hit the gym, picked up the best bagel I've ever tasted near my apartment and chilled at the park with my roommate while bonding over the good old days. Time for me to take a little bit of my mind off of work and invest a little bit more of it onto myself. This short spurt of downtime is exactly what I need before New York Fashion week starts next week. My schedule is basically back to back every day of fashion week, but I couldn't be more excited. So many good shows on my list that I'll be covering. So grateful for all the invites and wonderful emails I have been receiving these past few weeks. Makes keeping up this blog really well worth it. I can't wait to see what the designers have in store for spring/summer 2014 season. Things are going to be insane, so it's better that I slow things down right now while I still can. Friends I haven't seen in a while are coming back in to town to take on the craziness of the city with me, and it's going to be sweet sweet sweet. My girl Caylee will be my partner in crime the first half of fashion week. Excited to see her face again.

I was supposed to be back home in California this weekend to visit family and friends, but because of a last minute (and very exciting) work project, my trip had to be cancelled. But it's okay, I'll be back home soon. Currently looking up fun things to do this weekend with friends that involve being outdoorsy and active (and maybe a waterfall????). Hopefully the weather doesn't turn on its head on us (the weather man is hinting at rain). Fingers crossed.

Talk to you soon babes.

Of The Bohemian Kind

Free People tank, Kenny skirt, Worth & Worth hat, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice boots, 2 Bandits necklace, Boera cuff

She was young once,
Girl of the bohemian kind.
In the cold, bright dawn,
We watched her grow.

Wisdom began,
Season when the river was high.
On the gray stone long,
I walked alone.

Me and my heart,
Following the shadow she made.
Like a dull sky day,
I chased the sun.

Back at the start,
I was still in love with the way.
It's a long way,
From what's become.

She's got it bad for me,
She's got it bad for me,
The only game she played,
Now, turn the other way.

She's got it bad for me,
She's got it bad for me,
The only game she played, she played.

-Troubleman by Electric Guest
I thought this song very fitting to this outfit.

A Stroll Through Paris // Free People

Still lusting these other Free People August catalog images and outfits. So much the embodiment of my style through and through. And Guy Aroch I am realizing is really such an influence on my own photography style. He captures every moment so beautifully and powerfully. He is the master of liveliness.

End of Summer Playlist

Happy listening ya'll! Let me know what you think! Going to start putting together playlists for you guys more often.

Spirit Indestructable

Vintage blouse and shorts, Love + Leather necklace, Boera knuckle ring, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Chloe boots

So thankful for my beautiful friends in this city that make every single day a delight. And for all the new friends that I have had the chance to make my short time living here so far. Really, a city has never felt more welcoming. I love you NYC! This past weekend was absolutely STUNNING. It was like summer in full throttle all over again, but with a subtle hint of fall, and all I wanted to do was be outside all day long. The city was buzzing and completely in its groove. I had a test shoot Saturday morning at Central Park with my new lovely friend Sabrina, and I am absolutely ecstatic to show you guys the result. I am currently busy, busy editing and thinking up new shoot ideas. My favorite activity is a mix of editing photos and watching Clueless. Never gets old. Sunday was spent exploring and picnicking Fort Tyron park in The Bronx, near the most northern part of Manhattan. It was so nice to be outside, surrounded by great friends and immersed in a puzzle of endless trails and miles of green. An entire world of lush serenity to escape to just a subway ride away. The Cloisters museum and gardens gave us the best view of the Hudson River and of Manhattan. I could have stayed up there for hours. Like Nelly Furtado's song, my spirit is absolutely indestructible at the moment.

Cherry Bomb

Vintage dress from Wild Hunt Vintage, Pour La Victoire sandals, Stela 9 bag, Free People sunglasses, Vanessa Mooney cuff and necklace

Nothing beats the summer heat than a neat little vintage dress. Rosebud pattern and all. Although I like to pretend they are cherries. They kind of look like it from afar if you squint a bit. Just a tad.

Working on putting together my schedule for NYFW next month. Things are looking quite crazy, but I feel like it's going to be a good one. Ready to give you all some awesome coverage of the spring/summer 2014 happenings. Stay tuned ya'll.

Gotta run but just wanted to say . . . HAPPY FRIDAY!! Thank goodness for that!

Last Day To Enter H&M's 50 States of Fashion Contest!

H&M top, J. Crew skirt, Dolce Vita boots

Hey guys! Tomorrow, 8/21, is the last day to enter H&M's 50 States of Fashion Contest! All you have to do is upload a picture of your personal style to Instagram and use the hashtag #HMShopOnlineXX (XX = your state's abbreviations). NYFW is creeping up on quickly, it's all I've been planning for at work, so I thought it suitable to post these pictures from last September's fashion week, wearing a top by H&M, of course. Hurricane weather was slowly rolling in and the winds were blowing mad wild while we were quickly snapping these pictures. I thought I was going to be blown away. Let's hope that this NYFW will be a sunny and safe one!

This week has been crazy (hence, the older photos I've been using), but I promise to be back to regular programming tomorrow! xo

Shopping Guide // London

I was getting all nostalgic last night and was going through old London and Paris photos from the trip my sister and I took last September. I really had such a unforgettable experience bonding with my sister in two completely new countries. I really fell in love with everything about London especially. How happening and fashion-forward it was, yet still so down-to-earth and tied to the memories of its history. Not to mention London is absolutely beautiful, as are the people who live there. Best dressed city ever. And because I just found out that a friend of mine from Philly is flying there today for a last minute work trip (so jealous), I thought it would be nice to give London a little shout out by telling you guys some of my favorite spots that Natalie and I got to experience during our trip. I need to do a guide like this for Philly and NYC soon, as well as for every single place I get the chance to visit in the future (hopefully the near future). And I hope you enjoy these pictures from the trip. These pictures needed extra editing because my lens was actually on the verge of falling apart during this trip. Surprised that it was still able to capture what it did! And look at my hair. It's nearly a year since this trip, and I feel like it has grown to triple it's length! Looking at these pictures makes me look forward to fall, as well, and my approach to dressing in it. I definitely work the vintage patterned dresses a whole lot more in the fall. And on that note, I can't wait to sport my new vintage finds!

The Rookery
12 Peter's Lane
at Cowcross Street
London EC1M 6DS

The hotel my sister and I stayed in for two nights before going to our little bed and breakfast spot in King's Cross for the rest of our trip. Tucked away on a corner, this place is nearly hidden and is a majestic masterpiece full of period charm. Polished wood panelling, stone flagged floors, open fires and genuine antique furniture gave hints at the history of London. And our tub was fit for a king!

Pitfield London
31-35 Pitfield Street
London N1 6HB

Healthy, delicious cafe and home to an eclectic collection of homewares.

Beyond Retro (on Brick Lane)
110-112 Cheshire St
London E2 6EJ
The best vintage store in London. Everything and anything you need is here. And prices aren't too crazy.

Mawi
1 Calvert Avenue
Shoreditch
London E2 7JP

A jewelry store that focuses on luxurious statement pieces. Everything blew me away in here.

Absolute Vintage
15 Hanbury Street
London E1 6QR

I loved that the store was organized by style and decade in a very clear way. So many cute dresses here, it was hard to control myself.

LN-CC
18 Shacklewell Lane
London E8 2EZ
A men's and women's designer shop with mini concept rooms that mix music and fashion together seamlessly, and in a very futuristic way. I felt like I was in a space ship! Plus the guys that work here are total babes, duh.

Portobello Market
in the heart of Notting Hill

2 miles of Portobello Road full of delicious food, knick knacks and loads upon loads of records and vintage. All in what I think is the cutest area of London. Saturday is the day to kick it here, take a stroll with a cup of coffee and try a yummy ethnic delight off the street.

71 Shacklewell Lane in Dalston
Greater London E8 2EB

If you want to hang out with cute British hipster boys and dance to really amazing music and drink some good beer, then this is the place to go. It's in Dalston, another part of trendy East London where all the cool kids go to hang out. The bathroom is tiny, but it was quite a scene seeing how young 20-something British girls get ready in the bathroom with only one sink. I will never forget this place.

Brawn
49 Columbia Road
London E2 7RG

For a true French meal (and for those who love meat), check this place out! The meat and cheese plate is divine. Super cute and simple with white washed walls, I felt like I was in a little countryside home. We drank so much wine here before going out on the town. It was incredible.

The Breakfast Club
12-16 Artillery Lane
Spitafields E1 7LS

Apparently all things American, like diners, burgers, milkshakes and John Hughes films are really trendy in London right now. This place is kind of a chain at this point, but it is really fun and the burgers are actually huge and delicious! And if you make good friends with the cool bartender, he might just sit with you and take a shot of tequila. Nothing wrong with that.

I love you London and I hope to be back soon! xo

Merci

Lovers + Friends tee, Free People skirt, Boera metal cuff and knuckle ring, 2 Bandits wrap bracelet, Vanessa Mooney necklace, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Jett boots

I've never experimented too much with an all white look much in the past, but recently I've been all about it, even throwing on my white Chucks into the mix to top off the theme. It feels somewhat refreshing, and leaves more room to experiment with other things, like a bright and summery lip or a boldly patterned clutch. Color focus is super fun, but it doesn't always have to be just about the clothes. Maybe you want it all to be about the nail polish. Why not? Not that I can say that my nail color was my top priority with this look. Someone take me to the salon asap to get this fixed quick. My lack of nail etiquette really is unforgivable.

Work has been crazy busy as usual and I have some really fun and exciting projects coming up soon, involving me behind the camera :) Always my favorite kind of projects! Too many ideas floating around in my head, and it's about time that I put things into action! Talk soon ya'll. In the meantime, how about you shop some Lovers + Friends tees. I love the Lovers + Friends team and everything they do. The epitome of Cali cool that reminds me of home so much:

Zorra

Cheap Monday tee, Forever 21 jeans, Stela 9 bag (get similar here), Vanessa Mooney necklace, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Chloe boots, vintage belt

Was feeling like quite the Spanish outlaw (see Zorro, or should I say Zorra, reference in title) in my wide brimmed hat and low slung belt. These crazy cool pants just brought a whole new perspective on the idea. I'm just missing the face mask. Being growing more and more fond of heavily patterned pants to go along with the more basic collection of shirts and blouses that I have been digging out from the bottom of my closet. Everyone kept thinking I was sporting Isabel Marant. I love your Marant, but Forever 21 has got my back like no other. Always a reliable source of fast fashion and trend experimentation since my junior high school days. I remember the very first thing I got from Forever 21. It was a stretchy pink V-neck top with 3/4-length sleeves (because that was such a thing back then) and subtle ruching under the bust line that gave it a grown up appeal that made me feel so cool. I sweet talked my mom to buy it for me to wear for my first day back to school. Here I am now, 25 years old and still feeling like a kid in a candy store when it comes to this place. Oh how things never change.
