Magic Stripes

Top - Hallelu, Skirt - H&M, Necklace - Forever 21, Bracelet -vintage, Bag - Hobo International, Shoes - Steven Madden via Shop It To Me

When in doubt, always wear stripes. A motto to live by for sure. The thicker the better I think. My Hallelu striped top is my new love. And I love that it strays from the norm with beige rather than navy or blue. A touch more feminine I feel. This is what I wore to happy hour with my dear Philly friends Bonnie and Kim one super humid day not too long ago. We stopped by this historic street to snap our outfit pictures (Philly has the most beautiful streets in the world I swear) before heading off to chow down on pizza while we watched a few Sex and the City episodes on DVD. Hot summer nights are bliss (though also a little sweaty). Oh, and finally you get a better look at my new Hobo International San Fransisco bag. It carries everything and anything and it is essential. And what do you think about this lip color? I tried on Kim's fiery orange Revlon lipstick in Siren. Now I need to get this color for myself . . . it is so much fun!

101 Dots

Top - YesStyle, Shorts - Forever 21, Shoes - Steve Madden via Shop It To Me, Bag - Hobo International

Weekend wear made interesting with pretty pastels and all over polka dots. You see . . . dressing in the heat isn't all that bad. Not sure whether or not there really is 101 dots on this top, but it's nice to now that there possibly might be. And this San Fransisco bag by Hobo International is my new love. You'll have a better view of it on the blog soon my dears.

Gotta rest up! Have a busy week ahead of me before I can enjoy my first 4th of July weekend on the east coast!

I Love Food

I thought it would be fun to change things up every once in a while on the blog and start featuring one of my favorite things in the world . . . FOOD! And it makes total and complete sense to do so now that I am living in such a "foodie" city. There are amazing places to eat at every corner here in Philadelphia, and I have yet to try them all. One of my favorite restaurants here in Philly is Penang (117 N 10th St.) which is right in the heart of Chinatown. I actually visited the real Penang last spring. This island state of Malaysia is known for its spicy and eclectic food offerings. Malaysian food is one of my favorite types of foods, so when I first found this place I was basically in heaven. Nothing compares to the real thing, but this place gets pretty darn close. I love taking my friends here so they can get a taste of something exotic and fun! The Roti Canai (crispy pancake with curry dip) as a starter is a must, the Chow Kueh Teow (famous Malaysia stir fry noodle) is superb, and the Penang Kari Ayam (lemongrass chicken curry) is the perfect Malaysia curry I gotta say! Eating here always brings back memories of my favorite South East Asian country!

City Strolls

Top - vintage from CALICO, Jacket - True Religion, Shorts - Zara, Shoes - Salvatore Ferragamo

The weather here in Philly is super bipolar and funny. Humid, then rainy, then cool, then dry. And a lot of the times it changes during the course of just a day. This can be a problem when getting dressed in the morning, for what feels comfortable earlier in the day most definitely doesn't work for the weather later on. But hey, I'll deal with it. Had an amazing past weekend hanging out with new friends and checking out the local scenes here in Philly :) I think I'm starting to figure out my so-called city haunts from Chinatown to Old City to the infamous South Street. There's always something to do here in Philly.

Pants - H&M, Leather Jacket - True Religion, Chiffon Shirt - American Apparel, Shoes - Salvatore Ferragamo, Bag - Hobo International

These pictures really make me miss beautiful Southern California and the amazing sunset it had each and every evening (something I could always rely on). They
were taken on a peaceful evening in Rose Hills. I spent the day with my wonderful friend Jenny from back home who I miss dearly! We caught the last of the sun's bursting light. This was the day I spilled the beans to my closest friends that I was heading off to Philly. Crazy that this was over a month ago. Time flies fast when you're having fun!

Also, I want to wish my father and all the other amazing fathers out there a happy happy Father's Day! I don't know what I would do without my pops! Love you Dad!

Soft and Casual

Silk Dress - White + Warren, Jacket - Volcom, Belt - vintage from CALICO, Shoes - ModCloth, Bag - Melie Bianco, Necklace - Les Jumelles

Outfit from a few weeks ago (yeah, I am super behind, but that's alright). A day out exploring the city with Philly bloggers Angie and Lauren. These pictures were taken under the walkway at City Hall. Pretty cool looking eh? Weekends in Philly are seriously the best. The city is totally chill, everything is within walking distance, and good food is around every corner (plus, I live only a few blocks from all the best boba drink places, which is a plus in the summer).

Invigorating Hues

This weekend has been slow, easy, and lovely just like I expected it to be . . . meeting up with friends, hitting up my fave food spots, and taking late evening walks through the parks. My sister just left to head back to New York, and I'm finally about ready to get back to the work work work grind. But before I really dig my teeth into it, I want to leave you all with a little lazy Sunday inspiration. I've been so busy in the past few weeks that I haven't had the time to let you all know what's been inspiring me recently. These pictures all decorate my office space at work, so every single day I am bombarded with fresh ways to wear color. This definitely makes my approach towards getting dressed in the morning much less dull. I very much plan on keeping on top of the color pop trend all throughout summer and deep into the fall. It's so invigorating knowing the brighter the better. Take a looksie and don't be afraid to show off your favorite colors like these lovely ladies above. I am ga ga for it all.

Pastel Shells by the Seaside

Skirt - vintage gift from Maggie from Postcards From, Blazer - H&M, Bag - Banana Republic, Sandals - Wanted

Another pre-Philly outfit! A gloomy and slightly chilly day at a beach in Newport, after a work meeting in the O.C. with my sista. There is something I can't get enough of when it comes to pastel on pastel. Peach and baby pinks are one of my favorite tones right now. So light and pretty and yummy like cotton candy. This skirt is a crazy amazing vintage piece that was gifted to my by the lovely Maggie from Postcards From. I am so happy this girl returned to the blogging world after a short little break! I'd miss her too much if she were to leave forever!! Thanks Maggie girl!

The weekend is finally here and I'm ready to relax and get to know more of my new city. My sister Nat will be in town, and hopefully the weekend goes by nice and slow . . .
