Some Instagram pictures from the URBN Inc. summer party. We. Got. Down. Yeah, we work long hours, but at the end of the day I don't find myself complaining. We all have it pretty good here at the Philly Navy Yard. Our summer party is a prime example of how much fun our work environment really is. Carnival rides. Free drinks. Henna tattoos. Candy. Tunes. We even did the limbo. And getting to spend it with all the awesome people I work with, many of whom I am lucky enough to call my really great friends. So many good memories from this evening, and more to come for sure.

Top - Skinny Bitch Apparel, Skirt- Evil Twin, Necklace - Vanessa Mooney, Bag - Threadsence, Sandals - Dolce Vita

If I can't head to the beach on the regular now a days, why not bring it with me into the city? Hence, the water-like tie-dye top. The best way to pretend to keep cool on even the most sweltering of day. Blue on blue ain't never been this cool.

More pictures I took at Long Beach Island. I miss feeling the sand between my toes.

Tank - Volcom, Skirt - vintage, Denim Shirt - Lucky Brand, Boots - vintage, Necklace - Vanessa Mooney

Channeling my inner Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love, and Clarissa Darling. Growing up as a kid in the 90's explains why I am still very much drawn to the gritty mish mash of the fashion and culture of that decade. It's all still imprinted in my mind. From the music and the denim to the giga pets and beanie babies, the 90's made its mark. And it ain't going nowhere (well, at least the fashion and music part isn't). Thank goodness for that.

I love people watching on the subway. Be it here in Philly or there in NYC. Always such an interesting melting pot of emotions swirled up in one place. I catch myself sometimes imagining the personalities of the people I see. The way they slouch in their seat, interact with others, or even just how quickly they jump out at their stop to get to their next destination. Gives me a little peek at who they might be. Maybe I'll start a conversation. Maybe I'll smile and catch an eye. Or maybe I'll just keep to myself and wonder. Long lost subway rides. Sometimes mundane. Always in transit.

On Saturday I spent the day at Long Island Beach in New Jersey with my girls Kristina, Naomi, Jana, and Melissa. All of us work at the Free People home office. This day was the perfect escape from the go-go-go of the city and work in general. The sun came and went, and it sprinkled a bit, but I did indeed catch some rays and took a dive into the ocean. I almost forgot how much I love swimming in the the salty sea water until this day. The taste of it was shocking to me at first because I hadn't been in the ocean in so long. It made me miss Cali even more. More of these last minute beach trips need to happen before summer ends. Gotta keep letting these good times roll. I'm wearing a Free People top and Citizens of Humanity shorts.
