“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
- F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
This quote sums up my feelings of summer. It is already nearing the end of August and September is creeping around the corner. It really is unbelievable how fast time flies. This summer has been an amazing one spent with old friends and a bunch of new ones. Last summer was full of new experiences, as well: a brand new coast, a brand new city, a brand new job, a brand new home. It was all a whirlwind and all of a sudden I feel so settled and so at home here in Philly. I have learned so much since last summer. So much has happened that has made me believe that dreams really do come true and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. I've learned to take things as they come and appreciate all that I have. And to share this all with the best people in my life . . . I couldn't ask for anything better. Even those horrible east coast humid days when I felt like my skin was melting away, I felt perfectly at ease and that is exactly how it should be. No questioning, no complaining. Just living.
These pictures were taken early this summer and I randomly stumbled across them again just recently. They were taken on a perfect summer day, full of long bike rides, a heavy All-American brunch, and falling asleep in the shade. And then doing it all over again. So much is captured in these pictures that fully portray what summer means to me. Enjoy!
