I've been missing thrift shopping like crazy lately. Especially coming from Southern California, where there is basically a thrift store every two blocks. Life has been so busy lately that thrifting has been put on the back burner. Philly does have a good amount of little thrift and vintage stores, but it does not compare to Cali. And there isn't enough time to take a drive out to the suburbs to get the best of the best. My friends and I did spend two weekends ago thrift shopping around Philadelphia and strolling through the city streets with friends. What I love most about thrift stores is the not-so-thought-out randomness of it all. You never know what you might find beneath all the junk. Digging deep is all part of the glory of the find. And there is a jewel to be sought somewhere. One of my favorite places to make a pit stop at on a good thrift day is Philly Aids Thrift right off South Street. A rough-and-tumble mix of everything from vintage clothes to brand new Asian comics, this place is always exciting to lay your eyes upon. There is a weirdness about it’s funky decor that really draws me in. A shopping experience that makes you look twice while you dig for the deals is always an A+ in my book.

you should head into jersey for some good thrifting. where most of the stuff you find in philly stores comes from prob.
i also looked forward to the punk rock flea market when i was livin there. good stuff!
YOU ROCK MY LIL WORLD OFF!!!!!
I really need to take the time to thrift and not be rushed. I have only been a couple times and rarely found anything, I seem to do better and have more patience for searching online for good vintage finds.
Soon though, once it cools off down here I will venture the thrift shops here in town and dig a bit. Thanks!

I want to move to a big city like Philly so I can thrift more often, too. In my small, suburban town, thrifting isn't even an option! We have consignment shops but that's it :(

I definitely agree that Cali has thrift stores everywhere. I've always wanted to see what other states have to offer, though! Love the pictures :)
Thrifting is literally one of my favorite past times. It's so fun to see what gems you can dig up!
