Staying In

Volcom plaid shirt and dress, Issac Mizrahi boots

Back to work today after a straight two days of it being cancelled because of Hurricane Sandy. I lounged around the house in my pajama bottoms and flannel top all day long, snacking on cereal, and watching chick flick after chick flick on Netflix. Ended Monday night getting through another 100 pages of Valley of the Dolls. I was sort of bored in the beginning, but finally things started getting exciting and I couldn't put it down, which led to me falling asleep way too far past 2 AM. Thankfully the storm has passed, and hopefully NYC and everywhere else that got hit hard by the storm, gets back up on its two feet very, very soon. Still, Philly is rainy and gloomy and it seems like it's going to stay this way for much longer. On a brighter note, today is Halloween, as well as my friend Naomi's birthday, and I'm busting out my second costume to celebrate :)

City Gypsy

Bohemian City Girl

Was having a little rainy evening fun on Polyvore yesterday and came up with this fall ready outfit just for kicks. I love the idea of print mixing with seasonal textures like velvet and wool felt. All in warm and spicy autumnal colors, of course. This rainy weather is putting me in the mood for everything cozy and rich, like a good mug of hot chocolate. Are you feeling it, too?

Old City Dreams

Natalie + Dylana x Modern Vice Benni boot in pumpkin, vintage blouse, H&M pants and hat, Rebecca Minkoff bag

A little trek around Old City, Philadelphia in my pumpkin orange Benni boots is the perfect way to welcome in the autumn season. I still can't believe it's nearly the end of October. We are in the midst of the Halloween festivities, and I'm already working on my second costume. Currently, Hurricane Sandy is on the minds of everyone around me, and we are all prepping for a straight two days of being stuck inside. Stocking up on things like water bottles, cereal, and bread. Bananas have sold out at the local supermarket. At least work has been cancelled for today and tomorrow because of all the paranoia surrounding this oncoming storm. Just the little break I needed so much after what has felt like weeks of nonstop work, work, work. Old 90's movie and Sex and the City marathons are my top priority right now. It kind of feels fantastic.

By the way, how do you all like the new blog redesign? It's definitely still a work in progress, but I think it's the closet it's ever been to what I have fully envision my blog to look like. I've been thinking a lot about what kind of direction I want my blog to go in, and I feel like the best way to go about things is to really not think too much about it at all. A focus on photography has a much more distinct presence on the blog, and this is something that has developed naturally over time. And to think that using an SLR camera was brain surgery to me back when I started blogging in 2007. Now it is a such an everyday part of my life that it only made sense to make the pictures bigger on my blog so everyone can get a better look. I just want this blog to not only be fashion-centric, which is how it started as, but also a personal place where I share bits and pieces of my life with you all. I feel like we all have a lot of awesome things we can share with each and teach other through words, pictures, or however else we choose to express ourselves. And that's what I love most about keeping this blog. I have total control and I get to do what I love and share it with you all. Let's all just keep it up like this.

A little preview of tomorrow's outfit post featuring our Natalie + Dylana x Modern Vice Benni Boot!

My friend Melissa and I tried using hair chalk for the first time a few weeks ago. I got lavender tips and she got some multi-colored braids. We are so cool.

Went out to a costume party in Long Island last night, and frolicked in the woods and beach this morning. It was wonderful. Going to continue the Halloween festivities tonight by staying in and chilling with some scary movies. I hear a hurricane is going to come through tomorrow night. Oh man. It might be a rainy and windy Halloween this year.

Sundays in Philly are always the best. Totally chill. Totally food driven. And then chill even some more. Throw a bulldog or two into the mix, and that's a good old Philly weekend for you in a nutshell. Pretty dank (cool/sweet) right? Brunch at one of my fave breakfast spots Green Eggs is a Northern Liberties must for me. Try the "kitchen sink" dish if you are into some savory goodness . . . hashrowns, egg, peppers, onions, and a side of gravy. Need I say more? What's next after brunch? A walk around the city, and then an evening full of specialty beers in the park. Good times with good friend.

Today is Friday and it is officially Halloween weekend ya'll! A bunch of my friends and I are driving to Long Island to go to a Halloween party my friend's friends are throwing. I already know it's going to be a blast :) I already have my outfit all ready for tonight, plus another one for another shenanigan-filled night out later this weekend. I'll wait for you guys to see later. Hope you guys all have fun this weekend. Enjoy it!!

Madewell cardigan, Lucky Brand denim shirt, BDG jeans, vintage thunderbird ring

Realized the other day that I only owned like two cardigans total. How weird is that? They seem so necessary, but somehow gotten away without having to rely on them. But for some reason, the idea of a cute little cardigan has been nagging at the back of my mind. This little guy from Madewell is just that. Cute and hoppy. Kind of like a good beer, you know if beer could also be considered cute. Whatever. I'm down with the cardigan. I feel like I need some horn-rimmed glasses to go with. But I'm already a bookish little worm at heart anyways, so at least I've got that covered. Madewell, I love you, and I can I please own everything you guys create? Thanks.

Panic Switch by Silversun Pickups

Been getting back into one of my favorite LA bands. Reminds me of the long and lovely drives from LA to San Diego my friends and I used to take during college. Those were the days. Nothing like a spur-of-the-moment Cali coast down the highway. I'll take one of those any day.
