Summer lovin' calls for pretty patterns on babydoll dresses and pops of pink on our puckers. Pops of pink on our puckers. Pops of pink on our puckers. Say that 5 times fast. Another busy week ahead with some much needed catch up with friends time and some fun parties thrown in here and there. I'm surprised at how regularly I've been posting on here (it's called pictures on back up baby). But I really do try. There is nothing more relaxing at the end of the day than playing my favorite music while I go through pictures and get nostalgic over the weeks past. Funny because these pictures were taken in NYC, but back when I had no idea that I was even going to be moving to NYC permanently for a new job. A month ago, the thoughts of moving to NYC were definitely in my head, but the idea was never so mountainous or urgent. I'm glad that something did eventually bring me here sooner than later. Sometimes taking that big leap is the one thing you got to do so that everything else falls into place, however bumpy or seamless that road may be.

Volcom // Cruel Summer June E-book

I realized that I never got around to posting some of the June E-book images that I shot for Volcom featuring my sister Natalie Suarez and some of the brand's new summer product. This is an ongoing project for my sister and I this year and it always pushes us to try something new on all aspects of creative direction. We collaborate on theme ideas, styling, hair, make-up and location. And I'm always pushing myself as a photographer to capture a part of Nat that I've never had the chance to before. And Natalie has been developing all sorts of characters and emotions in front of the camera. These are just a few of my faves! Check out the rest on Natalie's blog here

We just finished shooting the July E-book this past weekend, and it will be launching soon. Can't wait for you guys to see what we busted out this time around :)

Turn On The Lights

Vintage dress, Mango necklace, Belle by Sigerson Morrison sandals, Aimee Kestenberg satchel

Oh hello from my couch this fine Sunday afternoon in Williamsburg. Shot this look real quick last weekend after putting my Ikea furniture and going out with Nat and Tanya for a celebratory food fix in the new hood. The one thing I really loved about Philly is the fantastic street art. There's a whole lot of that here in the burg, so I'm glad that my eyes don't have to miss out on that. Been completely enjoying exploring my neighborhood. So many food options, shops and cool bars to check out! It's endless. And the boys are quite cute here :) Still on the hunt for a big old vintage-style mirror, a colorful Turkish rug and some other bits and bobs to help transform my room into the magical gypsy wonderland it's always striven to be. Almost gave in and purchased a rusty tin letter "D" at the flea market today to tack onto my wall, but put it back down to think it over one more week.

Skeleton Dance

Gypsy Junkies x Free People tank, Citizens of Humanity jeans, vintage boots and belt, Vanessa Mooney necklace, Purse borrowed from Natalie, Free People cuff

Skeleton, you are my friend
But you are made of bone
And you have got no flesh and blood
Running through you to help protect the bone

Skeleton, we have been friends for years
And you have seen me through some trials
And tribulations and some tears
But everybody thinks I'm weird

And I should have known that it wouldn't be long
Until you, you've got me standing in an awkward position
With unwanted attention and a need for explanation
And it's not that I'm letting go of you
But I don't know what to do

Skeleton, we are so close
But you have got no body
So, why do you insist on wearing clothes?

Does anyone else remember this song, Skeleton by Kate Nash? Kate Nash was my jam my junior year of college. I couldn't have gone through all that studying with her, and the thought of my skeleton friend to keep me company.

You guuuuuyyssss. TGIF. What a week!! Working on some cool projects at work right now, can't wait to get the ball rolling on them . . . but man do I need this weekend to rejuvenate.

Big Star USA

Big Star USA denim overalls (cut into shorts), H&M shirt, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Chloe Boots
What I wore my second day at my new job, which I went on to wear to some evening parties in the city, including one thrown by Sony to celebrate their new under water phone (techie stuff getting wiiiiilllddd). Overalls and little boots are basic, but they get the job done and they always feel fun, which is the only thing that matters in my opinion. No doubt about it. Keeping this post short and quick because I have so much work to get back to! The weekend can't come any sooner!

Free People // Rambling Rose Lookbook

My goal for my entire time living in NYC:  BRING THE BOHO TO SOHO

Yup, you got it. I still don't see enough bohemian vibes running the concrete in the Big Apple (despite what all the magazines say), but I'm starting to feel it creeping in close. Thank goodness I have Free People and their lookbooks to keep me sane, and especially when I need my daily dose of everything Stevie Nicks meets Laura Ingalls Wilder. Their latest Rambling Rose lookbook has all the perfectly directed balance of it all. Give me them kimonos, and them maxi skirts and them overly embellished pullovers. I dig. I dig it all.

Puppy Love

Lovers and Friends tank, Free People skirt, Vanessa Mooney necklaces, vintage bag, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice boots

Still in the process of adjusting to my crazy NYC working girl life. Up early. Crowded subway rides. Hoping that the L train doesn't get stuck at the Grand stop for 25 minutes again. Facing the crazy morning tourist crowd around Herald Square, where my new office is. Hardly catching a lunch break because there is just so much to do. But I'm doing so many different things at my new job and I'm learning so much. Oh the land of social media in the lingerie industry. Funny where I always end up. It's always something different each and every time, but I embrace the fact that it is that way. Life after the work day is over is always all over the place everyday, too. Running around to fun NYC events/parties (the fashion industry never stops and I can never throw down an offer for free drinks), dinners with friends, or maybe just chilling back in Brooklyn with my roommate and our little Seymour (see above pics). Plus I still need to add in working on the blog and editing photos. I haven't been to the gym in over a week, but all the running around makes it okay. Still on the hunt for a good Williamsburg gym though. My room has finally gone from a shit show of boxes and random disorganization to something slightly bearable to look at. And I finally have a better sense of direction getting off the R train at Herald Square, though I don't think the crowds will ever stop making me cringe and feeling a little uneasy (and maybe just a tad bit more pissed than I should be). And I still have high hopes of finding my prince charming on the subway someday. A girl can dream right? NYC you are crazy. But that is why I love you. Let's see where you take me.

Wasteland // Mountain High

I instantly fell in love with the romantic mountaineer vibes of Wasteland's latest lookbook, Mountain High. The redheaded model was the frosting on the cake when it came to completing the ethereal, earth-toned hues that resonated with each picture. I love that this look book gave a little nudge in the direction of autumn. Mustard gold, deep purples, rustic orange. Oh wow, it really is almost that time again. These seasons are coming and going like crazy, but right now all that is on my mind is summer. And the heat is allowing for no escape.

Swinging Sixties

Vintage Dress, Natalie & Dylana Suarez x Modern Vice Officer Boots, Free People sunglasses, Stela 9 bag, Free People cuff, Vanessa Mooney necklace

One of the main masterpieces of my closet. A vintage huntress's dream. A kaleidoscope poem of color and pattern in the form of a swinging sixties shift. And those bell sleeves make me want to dance with my hands above my head all day long. La dee daaaaaah. Me so happpyyyyyyyy!! You know that feeling right? I know you do. And it's summer time, and that feeling should be in the air every freaking second.

Glamour Live Philly Recap

I wanted to take a hot second and share some of the party pictures from the Glamour Live Philly party I hosted last week at The Trocadero! It was such a fun night and a great way to end my last week in Philly with good friends, drankz, tons of dancing to good music (thanks OCD: Moosh & Twist and DJ Ed O!) and Southern food for energy. And photo booth pictures, as you can see. A good party always has a photo booth! Thank you so much to FUZE drinks for sponsoring the night, and to Glamour magazine for inviting me to host the night and to represent Philly, a city that has grown to earn my heart forever. And all the people who came out to party with my friends and I! I'm going to miss you so much Philly! The people. The food. The beer. The sticky hot nights. The grimy corner bars. The beards on bikes. Errrryyyythaaaannnggggg about you! xo
