I'm back in NYC from my wonderful Vancouver trip and a one day layover in Los Angeles. The past few days have been quite the adventurous whirlwind, but it feels good to be settled back in my humble abode in Brooklyn. And here's a second look that is part of my collaboration with Kate Spade Saturday. An outfit entirely inspired by one of my favorite starlets, Audrey Hepburn, and her unforgettable dance scene in 1957's Funny Face. Beautiful yet boyish. The grace of a ballerina and a charm that was undeniably impeccable. Her petiteness balanced out her confident way of speaking. Her beauty balanced out her maybe non dainty way with words. Especially in Funny Face, she felt very French to me. Simplistic yet bold. Not to be taken too seriously, yet totally in control. She's not in a dress, but in pants, which in the 50's made quite the statement for a woman of that time. She never had to show too much skin to make men notice her either. Her physical beauty was just as standout (which at the time, was not very mainstream) as the sparkle in her eyes and the pitch of her voice. And I would never imagine Hepburn to wear a purse over her shoulder or a clutch under her arm. She'd wear it across her chest just like I wear this Kate Spade Saturday red leather style. Hepburn was obviously a girl on the go, and a girl on the go needs more hands than just one.
