Everyone who has gotten to know my personal style since I started blogging over 5 years ago knows that maxi dresses are a staple in my closet. It's the bohemian Stevie Nicks dancer that lives inside of me. When it's warm out, she just bursts out in all her glory and takes things to the streets. I love maxi dresses because they feel both freeing and feminine at the same time. They move with the breeze. They let your legs breathe. They might make you trip every now and then depending on what shoes you have on, but usually they just conjure up romantic situations involving a very handsome man in the middle of a lush forest somewhere. Mysterious and charming. Modest yet still completely sexy when worn in the right way (see slit up one side of the front). An unexpected flash of skin makes all the difference. Maxis aren't made for every girl (especially in the city), but they are made for me and I will rock them forever. Apparently, they are what guys hate girls to wear the most, but when did I ever dress for a guy?
